Welcome to Riverview
When you think of church do the words "irrelevant", "boring", or "judgmental" ever come to your mind? Have you ever felt "put off", "put down" or "put out" by the whole church experience? Unfortunately, we've found that many people's negative experiences with church have left a bad taste in their mouth and thinking that the church primarily exists for itself. But what if there was a different kind of church? One that accepts you no matter where you've been, is far from boring and irrelevant, works hard to make our world a better place and one that really helps you move forward on your spiritual journey. Would you be interested? We think you'll find something different at Riverview. We’re far from being perfect but we believe that the truths of the Bible can be applied to everyday life in helpful ways, and that people looking to find their way back to God can “come as they are” and grow. Together we’re becoming a group of people who can be real with each other, forgiving of one another, and united on making a difference in our world. We’d love to have you join us. Are you seeking purpose? Find it here.
Why Do I Need Church?
That' a great question you rarely hear asked aloud… There are plenty of other things to occupy your life with, right? Why add more to the already frantic pace? How will church add anything to my life?
If we are truly honest most of us would admit that “something” is missing in our lives and that “something” is spiritual. There's a part of us that needs more than the stuff of this life. Erwin McManus in his book “Soul Cravings”, says it this way: “There are cravings within me, though, that pull on me like an addiction. They have always been with me and have even at times tormented me. Beyond my flesh, beyond my mind, beyond my heart, there seems to be a place where my deepest and most powerful cravings lie. And they do not lie silently… I’ve tried so many things, certain they would satisfy my soul but they never did.”
Decades earlier French philosopher and mathematician Blaise Pascal put his finger on the same “soul craving” that Mcmanus addresses. In his book, The Penses we read,“What is it then that this desire and this inability proclaim to us, but that there was once in man a true happiness of which there now remain to him only the mark and empty trace, which he in vain tries to fill from all his surroundings, seeking from things absent the help he does not obtain in things present? But these are all inadequate, because the infinite abyss can only be filled by an infinite and immutable object, that is to say, only by God Himself.”
As a church we exist to help people on the path to find their way back to that “immutable object” God Himself. And we’re hoping that a growing number of people will find their own “soul craving” strong enough to motivate them to, not only get out of bed and come to church on Sunday mornings, but to seek the God who has been seeking them.
Your greatest joy lies in discovering God's purpose for your life and in joining others to give back to one another. This is God's greatest dream for the church and when she is healthy and operates the way God intended, we believe that the local church can be the hope of the world. Is something missing in your life? Find it here.
Will I Be Accepted?
That's why so many of us have walked away from church and religion. We're convinced that church is a hangout for hypocrites. And depending on where you go, that might be true. For some reason, we Christians have developed a special talent for that. Riverview understands that it's terminally imperfect.
So before you write church off completely, give Riverview a chance to change your mind. We realize you could do a thousand other things on a Sunday morning. So can we. But we've found a group of people who are willing to be real with us, to walk with us, to support us and to give us a church experience that's purposeful. Are you seeking acceptance? Find it here.

The Hope of the World
Another reason is that we believe we were called to do more than live for ourselves. Together, moving forward with grace and compassion, we are able to see not only our own lives made better but we can also better the lives of those around us. Each week marriages are saved, lives are changed, and our neighborhoods and communities are becoming better places to live as we join arms to make a difference.Your greatest joy lies in discovering God's purpose for your life and in joining others to give back to one another. This is God's greatest dream for the church and when she is healthy and operates the way God intended, we believe that the local church can be the hope of the world. Will I Be Accepted?
The very things Jesus did are the same things the church has a hard time doing. It's kind of ironic, don't you think?
There's never been a perfect church - anytime, anywhere. You probably already knew that. But it still feels good to be honest about it. Those of us who have searched for perfection at church have always been disappointed or disillusioned, or both. That's why so many of us have walked away from church and religion. We're convinced that church is a hangout for hypocrites. And depending on where you go, that might be true. For some reason, we Christians have developed a special talent for that. Riverview understands that it's terminally imperfect.
We don't waste any time trying to cover up our flaws or mask our faults (We have plenty).
We, like you, are trying to play with the cards we've been dealt. We're asking the same questions. searching for the same answers; struggling with the same issues. We live in the same community and deal with the same problems. We're concerned about our futures and our finances, our families and our friends...the stuff of everyday life.So before you write church off completely, give Riverview a chance to change your mind. We realize you could do a thousand other things on a Sunday morning. So can we. But we've found a group of people who are willing to be real with us, to walk with us, to support us and to give us a church experience that's purposeful. Are you seeking acceptance? Find it here.
